What is this gunk?

Anyone have any idea what this stuff is? Should I be cleaning it out, is it good? Is it bad? Just never seen this growing on anything...

I get the same kind of gunk but I swish that part around in tank water when I do water changes so it cleans it out. I call it aquarium slime.

It won't hurt anything to rinse it off, at least it never has for me. Your filter pad will have the most BB if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, just gunk buildup. I have it on/in my filters and will be cleaning both out tonight.
