What kind of fish is this?

I saw this fish in a Chinese restaurant. It had a HUGE belly. I'm not sure if it was pregnant, deformed, or if it was just like that. Does anyone know what it is?

Looks like a Giant Gourami....looks like it ate one of those Goldfish.

Yes that is a giant gourami thats albino. I think there funny lookin and cool all at the same time. Either way it looks like it has a serious case of dropsy to me. They are herbivores mostly and from time to time they eat a small fish. Not one of those larger goldfish in the tank behind it in the picture. They have evenn been known though to be put with little neons and stuff if they werent raised to see other fish as a food source.

definitely giant gourami, but no dropsy (no pineconing scales, no popeye)...probably constipated or massively overfed

Ah, that looks right. Yeah, I'm not sure what was wrong with it.

It came right up to the glass and stared at me, it was pretty weird.

Your probally right. I always forgot about the scales as the other part of the disease. Thanks for correcting me. Either way you should counsel the restraunt owner.

I was just kidding about it eating the goldfish. They are definitely too big.
