LOL... Have you ever seen those news reports about what's really in that ground beef, chocolate, etc? That rock is may be one of the safest things you could put your tongue on Or have a friend try it!

It is most likely quartz. Very common in my neck-of-the-woods, and I have a lot of it in my tank... Never had a problem.

And if it is salt... you should be able to add some starfish to your tank after a while

LOL you guys and sticking your tongues on strange things, its not salty I licked my fingers after handling it for a bit. Plus I left it in a sink full of water for the past few hours and nothing so its quartz. I was worried that it may be salt since Im next to Lakew erie and there is huge salt deposits here.

I'm quite sure it's quartz. Unless it came from around that big cooling tower, what do you folks call it? Bessie I think? If it comes from there it might glow at night

I was thinking about putting a LED under it buried in the substrate and make it glow green or blue, be kinda cool.
