looks to me like a Hypostomus plecostomus almost, though the pattern on the rear looks different...

It is H. plecostomus. so will reach about a foot long. They are becoming more common than ever in shops, as they are farmed extensively these days.

Yeah, that's the coommon pleco. Put him on some black sand and he'll turn solid for you. With a red or white bucket and the right light they can turn orange to yellow too.
