I happened to be up close to my aquarium looking at a snail egg sack and saw two minuscule dots moving around outside of the sack ( about an inch away)! The egg sack isn't even matured at all (no white dots inside) so I know it wasn't snails. They were about the size of a period (.) maybe smaller, and they skittered very quickly, almost like a flea!!!!!!! What in the world is in my fish & shrimp sanctuary?????? Kinda freaking out!! They are microscopic and if I wasn't right up at the tank I would NEVER have seen them! Btw I can't get a picture because they are toooo tiny! Any ideas???

What live plants do you have in there?

What's your water readings?

How long has the tank been up and running?

Guessing a microscopic organism if you answer my questions I can figure it out.

Thanks

It is a 10 gallon with hob filter, bubbler, led hood.... 2 zebra danios, 3 rummy nose tetras, 10 fire red shrimp, 2 ramshorn snails. I have a marimo moss ball (egg sized), java moss, and a small bit of subwassertang (trying to let it grow on my shrimp pyramid).

The size and shape makes me lean towards seed shrimp (ostracod). The rapid movement is more like Copepods. Both are harmless and probably arrived with the moss ball.

Harmless, and delicious. You don't often see them in fish tanks in great numbers for that reason, but they can be pretty numerous in shrimp tanks.
