Just got the piece of Mopani I ordered... but its covered in these white spots... Is it normal to have these???? The man I bought it from said he boiled and soaked it until all the tannins were released, of course I am going to do it some more, just curious if the white "spots" are ok?!

they look like nerite snail eggs .. they are fine to put in the tank. they only hatch in salt water.. I have been told they will eventually disapate .. mine are still on my driftwood after a few months. just an eye sore not harmful

K! Thanks :) I have been having some trouble with wood lately, this first piece I have is questionable whether its aquarium safe so I have been impatiently waiting for this one to arrive and when it did and seen those I was kinda bummed! But since its ok, I'm happy again lol!

Id put it in the tub and pour boiling water over it just to kill any nasty on it.
