I thought i had serpae tetra's but found out that they are red minor tetra's. what in the world is the difference because they both look the same to me.

They are one in the same, in most cases. This is the problem with the common names, but I have a hard time abandoning the use of the common names myself. Fruit Bat has us all in a scientific name program, so hopefully we will get ourselves straight, LOL!
