I just figured out that a neon is missing.. i think that the tank bully gourami may have killed it and the snail finished off the deal.. i cant find neon #8 for the life of me.. oh well a good excuse to go buy 3 more I feel bad not even finding a body though, my levels are perfect with no noticeable ammo spikes except a small one about a week after i got the snail and a week before i got rid of the problem gourami... coincidence?

when i was a kid, i use to put plecos in my goldfish tank, the tank would get dirty, and when it got clean, there was no sign of the pleco.

most recently, while i was in the bahamas (and yes i did snorkle at a reef)
i came back and am missing two neon tetras. i i moved all my fish, that would snack on them...so im guessing it was the pleco that cleaned up this time

My 8th neon came back!! It seems to like the cave and im noticing the dynamics between the school are a bit different, almost like they are fighting a bit.. Maybe it went in to the cave to lay eggs... not the safest place imho as i think the pleco that lives in there would probably eat them before they even hatched... On another note if thats why i have no clue what to do with baby neons.. i dont have a breeding tank as i never intended to breed fish..

I am hoping that it just likes to hang out in there.. they are schooling now after the slight bit of chasing..

I just had the same thing. I have a big 90G with some SA cichlids and I *had* five neon barbs to act as a dither.

Let's just say that it may not seem that the missing fish would fit into anothers mouth....but they most likely do.

Well, it was an expensive treat for the others.
