PlatyLady...

Yes...Neon Tetras are very picky as to their water. They are also very susceptible to Ich and the so-called 'Neon Tetra Disease'.

I'd STILL go with the White Clouds!

hey!
i have two 5 gallon tanks and my inhabitants are:

tank 1: 1 pair of killifish (Nothobranchius guentheri)
easiest killy to begin with
1 hillstream loach
pair of lampeyes

tank 2: 1 pair of killifish (aphyosemion australe)
1 african dwarf frog
albino cory

killies are the way to go if you want color :) just dont mix the species :p

badis are good little guys too, i had a pair also but they went to fishy heavan. have fun deciding!

Yeah, a crayfish or crab tank might be kind of nice. You just really need to set it up so they can occasionally get out of the water. A pile of nice rocks in the center of the tank might be cool.

PlatyLady, your question about the barbs. . . I haven't tried it, but the January 04 issue of Aquarium Fish magazine suggests 2f/1m cherry barbs in a five gallon, and says they will be quite happy. . .
