Wider Front to back vs Longer Left to right

What is your opinion. What would be better for housing semi large fish.
School of Pink tail Chalceous 5
Rope fish 5
Balla Sharks 4
and a
large school of Neon Tetra.
may or may not through in some type of cats.

Room is not an issue.
