Wierd Fish

I notice my fish all making their mouths in an "o" shape and sucking in something like woooosh.


What is it?

What kind of fish do you have? Do you mean they are sucking in air like that?

African cichlids, a bolivian ram, platys, a betta....

If you mean just randomly doing that under water then i've seen my fish do it before too. It seems like a yawn or something

Yep, all fish in all tanks do this once in a while underwater.

My guys & girls do a 'yawn' type of thing on occasion (in the tank, not at the surface). Nothing to be concerned about!

OK. Lol, I thought you were saying they were all gasping for air at the surface.
Honestly, I do not entirely know why they do it underwater. It seems that sometimes they have to re-align their mouths (sort of like a snake), so they just "yawn" really big. I am not sure about that though. Just a guess/observation.
