hello friends ,, am running a brackish aquarium with salinity 1.000
can freshwater crayfish survive it ?

1.000 isn't brackish, it's fresh. 1.001 would be going towards brackish. 1.005 is weak brackish, 1.015 is heavy brackish. 1.024+ is seawater (marine).

Anyway, I kept crayfish in 1.005, but they had to be acclimated S-L-O-W-L-Y. Also, some crayfish died immediately, others survived a night, others were fine. They were in there as food for a Puffer.

Thanks,

Tim

thanks for your reply ..

am planning to reach 1.015 but am still stocking it with baby monos and scats

ok. :)

Don't get stuck with the retractable Scat spines. Some people say they may carry a venom of sorts. They also grow very large and quite fast, as do monos. The crayfish may be able to take down these fish because scats spend time by the sand. Just wanted you to know that. Hopefully you have a big tank. :)
