Is it true Goldfish will eat live plants...

Yes. But they generally prefer soft, tender ones, so it is possible to keep goldies in a planted tank.

Mine did not do any research. So they eat every one, or at lest rip it apart. Just my little guys any ways.

Yes, they sure will. And as previuosly stated, they like the succulent tender juicy one the most. as they get get larger (the Goldies) they will sometimes uproot and even tear up those they can't eat in their neverending search for food.
