I'm wanting to move my Ropefish into my stillwater tank while I set up my 50g.
Would he be okay in there for a few weeks or not??

Rope fish can utilise atmospheric air in situations where dissolved oxygen levels are low. If you saw how many of these fish are imported in one relatively small bag, you wouldn't worry too much about him surviving in your tank without aeration!

I would agree that it is probably best to add air to the tank, but if the ropefish is the only fish in the tank, oxygen requirements are unlikely to outstrip natural levels in the still water.

Mrvincent is correct about the fish being sociable, they live in groups in the wild.
