I have 10 cherry shrimp in a 1.7 gallon tank. I have another tank being dry started at the moment that is meant for them but now I am strongly considering crystal reds. I know I will have to start using RO + remineralizer, because my tap is 7.5 pH and very hard.

If I sell/trade the cherries at the fish store today, empty the tank and put in RO, will it have any detrimental effects to the microorganisms in the 1.7gal due to the swing in water parameters?
And once I make the switch, since I'm using the same filter, can I add/acclimate the crystal reds right away once I put in the RO water + mineralizer?

It shouldn't do anything to the bacteria, as long as you don't drain the tank and wait for a week or two.
