I've bought a 55G long aquarium and planning my fish. The tank came with 75lb of petco gravel. I've been reading about burrowing fish such as eels and dojo loaches that hurt themselves when burrowing through larger non-rounded gravel.

My gravel
Petco Shallow Creek Aquarium Gravel at PETCO

Is it fine enough for a peacock eel or dojo loach to burrow in?

Switch to sand now, you will want to later. If you have a home improvement store nearby, they should have pool filter sand. I think it's a 50lb. Bag for right around $8. You can try cleaning the gravel,if it's not already clean, and selling it on craigslist.

I did and I love it hard to keep plants in though at least for me

Thanks for the advice! I'd rather not switch to sand though, I am happy with gravel but just wondering which gravel is good for burrowers.
