DarrylR: What is an assasin snail and what kind of pest infests the plants? My experience to date is that snails are a pest, except for the moon snail we had that was twice the size of the clown fish who ate it and then died. Filter Mechanic

This is a good deal on these plants especially for beginners. I don't have any more room for plants:(

Most snails are an indicator of the health of your tank if you have an over population then you are most likely over feeding. If you see MTS out during the day headed for the light you better check your water make sure the ammonia is 0, they are very sensitive to water quality. Assassin snails actually kill other snails, Anentome helena I got some for a friend that has more snails than he likes.

Assassin snails are fairly new on the market, who will breed in Freshwater but with a 70% chance of the eggs actually hatching and surviving. And they do indeed other snails pests (MTS, pond, ramshorns) as well as mystery snails/brigs and nerites. But can co-exist in the same tank with shrimp.

On my plants I do pick off any snails I can find cause I breed them for my assassin snails, but I will usually make sure to snag any egg sacs or snails I see.

Very much so correct on this information.

I've heard riccia can grow on land. Is this true?

Do you mean immersed and emmersed? Than I believe so cause people are able to grow it underwater on stones as well as any riccia that clogs in a filter hang on the back filter system, it will continue to grow.

As for straight land, it would need a bit of humidity to survive.

Ok. I'm creating a vivarium soon (a few months) and I've seen people use it in their tanks (aquariums and vivariums). It looks really cool.
