I really like them most of the time people rip you off for plants, it's a good deal. I only have incandescent lighting for my aquarium though so i don't know how they'd do.

43 watt spiral CFL over a 10g. i dose with flourish. i'm prolly gonna head to petsmart tomorrow to look at root ferts cuz what i'm doing just isn't working.

Yeah, that will help you out. Ordinary play sand isn't going to do much for root feeders without some root tabs.

Yeah, some of these plants (especially the blyxa) prefer medium light or more, so incandescents wouldn't do very well for them.
