So am planning on doing a planted macro tank and I was hoping to an African river setup. In order to keep the bioload light I was gonna stock the tank with ether a few shrimp or a crawfish. Does anyone know of any shrimp or crayfish native to Africa at could be kept in a 10 gallon aquarium or smaller?

Vampire shrimp is all that comes to mind but they need a much larger tank.

Ugh vampire shrimp are really unattractive buggers! I have been doing some research on Mexican dwarf crayfish. They seem like the way to go now. Does anyone have any experience with MDC?

Yeah CPO's will work in a 10 gal. Start with a pair or two and you'll have a large colony in no time.
