It has been about two months since I brought home my blue crawfish from Petco.
The last week or so I noticed it wasn't coming out of its cave (it is a ship decoration from Walmart). When it would come out, it would only come out half way, grab its pellet then go back into its cave.
Today I flipped over the decoration to see if it was still alive and I saw it was a she and had eggs. I didn't get a good look at the eggs but I think the majority are a pinkish color. My daughter (who is 11) argues I am wrong and they are actually black when she looked.
Could she hold the sperm plug for two months before laying eggs? Are they dead if they are pinkish/orange?
For about 3 weeks we had a prairie crawfish in the tank my daughter had found in the yard. It was tiny when she found it, molted 3 times in the three weeks we had it and we let it go yesterday since it was getting so big. Could a blue mate with a prairie?
