I white crayfish has been missing for a couple days and I finally found her hidden with her tail backed up in a corner. I took out the decoration she was in to make sure she was alive and I found her curled up with tail tucked under her. When she walked I around I noticed white balls hanging from hair looking appendages. It finally dawned on me that it might be eggs! EGGS! What do I do? Help!

Yeah those are eggs

Make sure you have good kh levels (calcium for for properly developed shells) and you can feed the babies crushed flake food

Nothing. Lol she will take care of the eggs. After they are hatched she may carry them around alittle longer.

No male for a couple months, he got regimes. Should I move her now to a new tank or after. Don't want the other fish to eat the babies

Since you dont know when she got berried im gonna post a bunch of pics of my crays recent clutch... mine is a marbled and doesnt need a male, but ull be able 2 estimate age based on development... gestational ages will be in the next post...

Pic 6, 20 days and hatched!!!!

Okay we'll there probably a week then, I wonder if mine will be white or will darken because its a white crayfish. She is about 4 inches long and hiding in a decoration so its hard to see the eggs

Also, most fish will gladly eat a baby cray or shrimp!!! But since momma will eject all her babies once she touches air its best to move her before they hatch, as eggs are cemented in place, and if you wait until after they hatch, you will need to use a cup to scoop her up...

Very true. A way to cut that down is to get a length of pvc pipe, and cut it to 2-3 inch lengths and tie or silicone them into a pile. They will each claim a "cave" and there will be less cannibalism.

I have a 40 gallon tank not set up. I would love to put the new family in their but not sure it would w ready for them in time?

She is currently in a 90 with goldfish, angels and some small Platys. I know weird combo, didn't know when I started but everyone gets along fine and will be 2 years this November.

Do you have the filter for it??? If so set up the filter in the current tank and it will seed the media so the other tank cycles faster. Good luck!!!!

I would have to buy a filter, not sure I want to set another big one. I will price them and see if I can manage that
