I'm getting some fire reds next week. And yesterday I was given a lot of live plants that are covered in long strands of hair algae.
Will the fire reds clean this up?
Please reply with your own experience as I have found conflicting reports online about this.

I have a fire shrimp but have not seen him go for this algae specifically "not that I have any now" they will go after plant matter, I've fed mine dehydrated sea weed. As of how to get rid of the long hair, your water peramiters may or may not even support it. Check your nitrites and nitrates.

In my experience the Neocaridina don't eat the algae per say but the biofilm/infursia that grow on the plants and decor. Some form of snails or ottos would do great at controlling algae in a shrimp tank.

My crayfish have done a fine job of eating that stuff. I'm not sure about shrimp, but given that they are related, it is a possibility.
