missing crayfish

I've had a crayfish in my 70 gallon for a month or two. He has done fine, I've seen him pretty often. But that last week I haven't seen him, not during the day or night. Could he be dead? Is this normal for them to hide for extended periods of time?

Found him. He has been hiding in a cichlid stone a lot lately. What are signs that he is going to molt soon?

I really can't tell you,sorry. Never had a crawdad but I really want one! I need to rehome my make betta first.

Yes, or he already did.

Hiding is a sign of molting you should see his previous shell unless he already ate it..
