Mystery Snail ?

Has anyone ever seen this before? I've had this guy or gal for about 2 weeks, he's in a 10g with a male betta. He's not been very active the last couple of days & today I notice this kind of slimy substance with those little granules.

The more I think about it, I wonder if maybe he's "thrown up" what he ate. It kind of looks like the algae wafer. Hmmmm.
