Wow your mystery snail is so pretty! I'm jealous. My black mystery has a lot of brown algae all over its shell. I managed to clean some off and noticed it has cracks. Came like that so I didn't know. Oh well. Love the coloring and the pearlescent flesh. Gosh.

Thanks! I have read that the cracks are due to needing calcium. But I'm not so sure. I feed mine tons of calcium rich food and I still have ones that get a crack on occasion. Squeezing into knocks and crannies maybe?

Wow you have amazing colours on your snails I am jealous as well.

I have had great luck breeding them. I am shooting for lilac colors with hints of blue, purple and pink. Where the stripes are less pronounced. Took me 2 years to get them this far, maybe another 2. Lol

If you were in SA I would ask to buy some from you as they would look awesome in my tanks. Maybe you know someone here with them.

Sorry no. I keep my snail fixation a secret in most social circles. I let myself out on this forum. Lol

A couple of weeks back I took 1 of the wifes 3 Mystery snails & placed into a tank which i'm prepping in hopes of raising Daphnia in.
within 30 hrs she climbed up out of the water & laid a 2 in long clutch of eggs.
tank is a 25 G & approx water level 5 inches from the top.
so I scraped the cluster of & placed it into a 1L clear cottage cheese type container.
I fold a paper towel up to be 2 in square added about 3 TBSP of tank water & sorta restuck the cluster 3/4's of the way up the side.

I had 2 clamps which I clamped to the container to hold it @ about 15Deg angle down @ the water paper towel end, then capped the container to keep the moisture in.
I balanced this on top of my penguin filter.
so today I inspected the contents & there's 7-8 new baby snails in the water, there are many more black dots in the rest of the cluster so I'll give them 2 more days & then drop them all back into the daphnia tank.

Your snail is gorgeous! I just brought home my first Mystery Snail (golden) on Friday. He's very pretty, but doesn't have anything near the beautiful colors of yours!

I got a new crop just hatched and growing fast!

There might be a few with a black foot too.

OOH pretty! I just saw 3 of the ones I bought from you 2 striped are growing big, one blue still is a little small, though they were a little different sizes when they arrived.

They are awesome! They are lost in the plants mostly, will see them for short periods cruising here and there, lost a couple I think they do not care for my water very much.

This one is cruising with the Tangerine Tiger getting a free ride! Just took this one.

Your snails are so wonderful.

We have two mystery snails who go at it like bunnies but have laid zero eggs. So both a good and bad thing, I guess.

Autumnsky sometimes there are some that don't thrive. I have tried a breeder box in the same tank with extra food to help them out, but sometimes nothing moves them along. I suspect snails have runts too.

Right now the ones laying are in the 8g Biorb. But the ones in the 29g are not. Lots of snail porn but no eggs?

And love the tiger hitching too. Btw.
