Ok so i have a nerite snail that ive had for 5 years. Ive noticed recently that it has quite a big crack on the top of its shell.

It looks white where the crack is. Is there something i can do to fix it.

Is this trauma or a water issue? What is your pH?

My very effective method for dealing with both- boil and peel an egg. Remove the membrane carefully. You can let it dry. Clean the snail's shell with a cotton swab dampened with hydrogen peroxide. Don't get it on the skin! Use super glue around the edge of the crack (again, don't get it on the skin) and place the membrane on it. Trim outside of the glue.

The shell won't grow back, but the tissue under it will calcify.

If your pH is below 7.2, the shell will continue to degrade.
