Usually it is more of a issue of how to get rid of them. They live and breed in almost any water. Note I said live and breed. They will do both in bad conditions. They will thrive in any conditions that regular fish will giving that heir is enough kh.

All you need is a couple, and before you know it your tank is covered in them. I got an assassin snail and yoyo loaches to take care of mine.
