I have a ten gallon that I am fish in cycling and I also have one Amano shrimp. I have heard that shrimp can't live in high ammonia conditions so does that mean that my tank is cycled or was that just a lie

Well, what is your ammonia testing at?

Most ornamental shrimp do not tolerate ammonia well at all. Amanos are a bit tougher than some of the other common species, but still exhibit low tolerance. If you are doing a fish in cycle, you should be testing ammonia daily or sometimes a couple times a day and doing water changes accordingly.
