I bought a 3 hermit crabs back in 2006 the very first one I bought lived and the other 2 died in the molting process a week after I bought them. Since then I've only had him. I know that hermit crabs are happy with other crabs and that they are social creatures. As you can see it's 2012 and he is still alone. I've thought about buying him another crab but I don't trust pet stores that much. I don't wanna buy a sick crab that will get my crab sick and soon end up with 2 dead crabs. I say this because it has happened to me but wit a different species of crabs. Should I keep him alone like he has been for all these years? I mean I want what's good for him but I am also protective of him. I don't want no sick crab from some store. What do ya'll think? Thanks.

I would keep doing what you are doing. I'm no hermit crab specialist, but obviously after over six years of your crab living as healthy as he looks you are doing something right! He looks like an awesome little guy, and I hope he continues to stay happy and healthy for the rest of his life!

Sorry for the bad experience you had but I would go with mumma and get more but quarantine them they are pretty sturdy animals
How big is the tank they are in??
I have 4 and it's really cool to see them hang out on top of driftwood "talking" they make cricket noises and wave their antennas or hang out in the water dishes lol :)
