Snail Makes Sand Balls

I have a few snails in my tank, black, blue, gold, and ivory mystery snails. They've all doubled in size which has been fun to watch. The tank seems all healthy, so I'm not doubting that its normal behavior.

All of the snails will at random times make a ball of sand held together by their slime. Then when they're done making the ball they just leave it where they made it. Just curious to know who else has experienced the same thing, and if anyone has any idea what the purpose or reason is.

Feed my curiosity.

I have a couple now for almost two months and I have seen them do that too, I don't know why...I will follow this
