Hey everyone. I have a lot of algae on the bottom of my feeder breeding tanks. I breed guppies in one and the other has feeder minnows. Both have a lot of algae on the glass and PVC that I use as hiding places. I want to stock a bunch of shrimp and snails in them to help with this. Any ideas. How many snails or shrimp can I keep in 40? I've seen pretty dense populations of snails and shrimp before. Thanks

One, reduce lighting to 6 hours a day.
Feed less
Change more water more often

Algae is an imbalance. Too much light or for too long.

Too much food or an imbalance in water chemistry.

Nerite Snails are amazing algae eaters. But certain kinds of algae are not eaten by anything. Just the soft green stuff usually.

My Nerites are amazing at eating algae. I'd say maybe 3 or 4. They'll starve without fresh algae. At least mine won't eat wafers at all.
