Snails good??

I've recently noticed these ill guys zipping accross the gravel, never intended on having snails, I'm guessing stow aways in my plants, should I be concerned or happy to have them?

Opinions differ. Personally I like to have a few pest snails in my tanks. They help clean up. If there population gets out of control it can be a sign of excess organic matter or over feeding.

What should I look for as far as negative signs?

I don't really think there are any. If you get a massive population then they would add to the bioload of the tank.

If they get out of hand buy a loach they are Great in keeping them under control

They get way to big for a 29g , my Lfs guy mentioned an assassin snail. Any experience with those?

I recently got an Assassin snail to handle a pest snail problem in my 5 gallon. All the pest snails were gone in a week. The only remaining snail is bigger than the Assassin.

Yes a definite success. I can remove the last one, but I'll leave him for now.
