So I was going to convert my 20 gallon freshwater tank into a saltwater invertebrate tank, but it seems like that isn't happening.

Another idea I have is to do a semi-aquatic crab tank! I've kept fiddler crabs in the past but once their life span ran out I couldn't get any more, sadly they're becoming very rare here :(. 2 crab species that are very common here though are red claw crabs and vampire crabs. I like the look of the vampire crabs more, but they're $15. The red claws aren't as cool, but are only $4. What do you think I should do? Any personal experience would be great.

Anyone?? I think I'm going to do a slightly brackish tank with a few red claw crabs, and for the water part some sort of small fish like white clouds (I've kept them in brackish water before with my fiddler crabs without issues).

Personally, I'd go with the vampire crabs, here's a link to some info: http://caresheet.net/animals/crustaceans/vampire-crab-geosesarma/

One thing I've read in the past is they may need pinhead crickets (the super small barely hatched ones) that aren't available to purchase. I think the pinhead crickets are for the crablets and others that are fairly small.

The primary reason I'd go for the vampire crabs vs the RCC is due to the fact that you'd most likely have an aquarium that would have multiple generations of crabs, but they do require a more specialized aquarium and all.

Here's a YouTube video of an okay setup, though I'd recommend a smaller water segment, maybe half to a quarter of the size: https://youtu.be/9Bp2JUichpQ

Hope this helps, and if you need anything else just reply!

Just cuz, a baby vampire crab: https://youtu.be/WBzyccq_fSE isn't it cute! :D

Just make sure you intend on breeding the Vamps. They are becoming incredibly endangered in the wild because of this hobby.

True, good point. If you breed them, you could probably start a captive bred population within the hobby, something I'm doing with panther crabs and hope to do with Vamps along with several other fish and inverts down the road
