I want to watch my crays but being as they are nocturnal, if I turn on the lights at night they eventually retreat into their respective crevices. Would using a red light at night work the same as it does for reptiles and amphibians? I used to keep tree frogs and in order to observe them at night I would use either a moonlight or red bulb and they didn't seem to be affected by it. I wonder if the same would apply to crayfish.

how long have you had it/them? mine became diurnal relatively quickly

Thanks Andrew, I looked into those bulbs, but before I spend money on them I ordered a red sleeve to go over my existing light for $4. If that doesn't work I may have to invest in a moonlight bulb.

alLexX, I have had this elec. blue crayfish for just over a week.
