I have a tank with about 10 shrimp 5 rummynose tetras and 3 black khuli loaches. Recently I added my own root tabs. Read a thread on this site about taking osmokote and tomato fertilizer and putting it in empty pill capsules. I did this and within 2 weeks all 10 shrimp are dead. Ive had these shrimp for about 5 months now. All other fish are fine. My guess is the home made root tabs. Any suggestions

Were they ghost shrimp?

Ghost shrimp life span is only about 6 months anyway. But seeing as they all died at once I would point the finger at root tabs.

I'm gonna say the tomatoe ferts... I use osmocote and my ghosts and red cherrys have no issues with it

I've read that the root tabs can cause ammonia spikes if not stuck down deep enough. Invertebrates are also very sensitive to copper, so that may also have been the problem. But yeah, definitely the root tabs.
