Arowana Pond

So I was thinking of getting a 1000-1500gal pond and putting an Arowana in it. I know it would have to be heated but what other precautions should be taken?

is this going to be outside? heating a pond outside is pretty illogical because the water stays around the same temperature as the ground. i think i read that somewhere.

i think swimming pools stay warm or something because their insulated??

You can heat an outdoor pond to tropical temps, but even in Cali I would think that keeping a 1500 G pond at circa 78ºF would probably get pretty pricey in the winter months.

Check this out, if you go a little smaller it would be workable and you could figure out the cost of running 2500 watts when needed, but would likely need a dedicated circuit.
