Duck Weed

Does anyone know of a fish that will eat duck weed?

Common goldfish. My comets eat it up. However, if you have a bad infestation, you may have to net out most of the duckweed first.

What kind of pond do you have?

Greetings ...

My comets ate quite a bit of my duckweed ... when the duckweed began to take over, I removed a bunch of it with a skimmer net ... the fish took over the rest. Now my hyathins, lettuce, and grasses are duckweed free. .... Kinda miss the stuff now.

I was wondering about introducing some, but was unsure if I would be able to control it. Sounds as thought it is not a problem as long as I can net a good amount of it.

I like it, think it makes a good addition to the fishes' diet. They love to eat it! I'm always skimming some from my tanks, and plop it in the pond. They go for it just as fast as when I'm feeding pellets.

If you have a lightly stocked pond, it might not be as good an idea, unless you are willing to net it out regularly.
