Fish to many

Hi,
I'm new to the site.
I have had my pond for about 5 years and I love it. I have one koi, comets and orfe's.
My problem is that I have TO MANY fish. They keep haveing babies and the orfe's are huge. My bond is only 1500 gallons and I need to get rid of some of the fish.
So my questions is: Would anyone like some fish. I need to get rid of some of the orfe's and some of the comets. I live in upstate New York. The counties close to me are: Westchester, Dutchess, Orange and Ulster, I live in Putnam.
Please someone help, I'd like to find a home for them or can someone tell what I can do with them.

Have you tried your [acronym:f0046163ae="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:f0046163ae] to see if they will take/buy any of at least the smaller specimens? I think I've actually been to Carmel. Is there a huge chinese temple there with a huge pond next to it? Heck, you might even check if they'll take them.

Check with any local fish clubs in your area. They may be able to help you out.

Fish Clubs usually have a little auction think when you pay a buck per bag and you can sell them.

I checked the [acronym:a3c2980fb7="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:a3c2980fb7] but the fish I have are too big. They orfe's are about a foot long and the comets about 6 inchs long. I have about 9 orfe's to get rid of and about 7 comets. I don't think anyone wants to take that many. But I'm going to try the monestery as bzbee suggested.

bzbee,
Yes I do live by the chinese temple, it's a couple miles away.I think your idea about asking them if they want them is a great idea. I'll call or go over this week.

I hope that works. Also, at least around here, any adds where the price is under $150.00 is free. Try putting an add up. I've never been able to breed anything but livebearers. Chances are that somebody in your area is looking for fish for their pond. You should check.

Thanks

It's funny to get this reply after a while. Over the summer my comets had more than 50 you read it right 50 babies and I'm sure there are some I haven't seen yet. I will have to get some out but I don't know how I'm going to get them all out. My pond is only 1200 gallons it will no hold 50 plus fish. I don't know if I should leave them there thru the winter or wait until the spring. I'm going to have to check on that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will check w/ our [acronym:2dd3f16487="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:2dd3f16487]. I hope they'll take some.

Thanks for the reply.

Lucia
