WhiteAngel has fishy dreams
How do you go about making a pond??????

I was wondering, how would you go about making a pond????

And is it possible to make one in a limited space????

I am only allowed, out of my cousin's backyard, to use a part that is 20' long and about 10' wide.

What fish can be put in besides koi?

How much would a set-up cost?

There are many types of pond construction, from those preformed ponds you can buy at [acronym:0f6561fbe5="Home Depot"]HD[/acronym:0f6561fbe5], Lowe's, Walmart, etc., to free-form, where you make whatever shape you want, and use a liner manufactured for pond use, to concrete-lined ponds.

Certainly, you can also make a tiny one with a 1/2 barrel and liner, or the preformed ones mentioned earlier.

goldfish (stay away from the fancy ones like Oranda, or redcaps) comets, shubunkins, and regular feeder goldfish are hardiest, but I reall can't speak for Montana, your winters are way different than Maryland!

Cheapest, prolly $200 bucks or so (Angelfishfan could answer this best), up to unlimited tens of thousands of dollars for an ultra cool pond, waterfall, stream, lights, and every fancy thing you can think of!

Mine is free-form with liner, 2 ponds connected by waterfall and stream, I think I have about $5,000 invested in it.

Best book I know of on the subject: The Complete Pond Builder, by Helen Nash.
