Photographic Log of Pond

Now for my topic post I wanted to do a developing diary of the construction of my pond to the present time where I am pretty satisfied with it, although it may still need a fish or two (Preferably a mostly red shubunkin ), [acronym:219c278908="Laughing out loud"]LOL[/acronym:219c278908].

Here's where we manually broke ground and dug it out in late August of 2004. My brother didn't want his picture on the internet so I blacked out some of him but I didn't want to destroy the picture so I left some since I was kind of in a hurry:

Here we laid down pieces of insulation so the tarp wouldn't get holes, and would have some cushion for support. Again I blacked out most of my brother and sister and myself just becuase it looked odd with only one person being visible (How do you like my bright lime-green shorts? )

Next we layed down the tarp:

Next we filled it up with gravel, decorations and utilities after securing it with the cement (we used chicken wire as a frame for the cement):

This is after the fish survived the Winter, with a few floating and submerged plants,(and the cycling process which I didn't find out about in time):

This is now, with one mini Texas Dawn lilly and one large lilly, lots of floating plants, some submerged plants, a resident dragonfly, tadpoles, frogs, and the fish found in my signature. Unfortunately while I was on vacation the people caring for my pond weren't quite as goldy knowledgable as I would have liked and the bubble eye goldfish died, her name was Beauty and here is a picture of her after having her for only nine months:

Now of the pond present time:

But we did have some fish spawn, the mosquito fish and so now we have a bunch of tiny fish all about, it was no wonder with the water lettuce thriving and getting such lush, bushy roots as these:

This pic has one of the fry in the bottom right corner:

Lastly here is a nice pic of my Shih Tzu dog Gohan with his Summer shave:

Well that's all folks, hope you enjoy!

I'll second that. Looks great. What do you have for filtration? How big/deep is it?

Well it holds somewhere around 540 gallons and is about 3.5' deep at the deepest. I am not very technical, I have no idea exactly what the filters are, but there are two of them and I am sure it is more than enough. Thanks for the compliments
