Spawning Comets, or Why I'm Glad My Parents Arn't Goldfish - Aquarium Advice

Over the past two days, my comets have been spawning like crazy in my hyacynths. I was really excited until I noticed that all of the eggs were clear, and not a heallthy amber like they should be.

To make matters worse, Goldfish are terrible at anything related to raising fry. Seconds after the eggs are laid, all of the smaller fish come up uncontested and eat all of the eggs. I was trying to grab they hyacynths as soon as eggs were laid to go into the [acronym:0876dc3af1="quarantine or quart depending on context"]qt[/acronym:0876dc3af1], but they were too quick. It makes you wonder how they can ever reproduce at all.

put em in a breeding net and just take out the fish?
