Well, $25 later...
I just bought a $5 bottle of foam away (forget the real name)... did the job almost instantaneously... And a $19.95 bottle of Microbe-Lift... a bacteria raising agent that is supposed to keep the water healthy and lower the string bacteria... 12 ounces is suppsed to start the cycle... Have to hit it again in a week, but with less... and man does that stuff stink.
I hit the algae on the falls with the hose and it fell into the pond... fishfood! Keep ya posted on how its growback does... |

You should get a nice growback in a few days. [acronym:172d53bf43="In My Experience"]IME[/acronym:172d53bf43] the microb-lift does a really good job of clearing the water, but I always still got surface algae.

The dealer said there will always be string algae... that the microbe lift will keep it in check. I had to turn the [acronym:5b93f4d40c="Ultra Violet"]UV[/acronym:5b93f4d40c] off for 24 hours while the bacteria grew... Let ya know how it goes. Crazy how that stuff grows... like a big green squishy blanket. Cool to wash it away and watch the fish go crazy for it.

[acronym:0be2302740="By the way"]BTW[/acronym:0be2302740]..I dont buy the fact that you will always have string algae. Alagae needs food. Take away the food and the algae dies. The way you take it away is by adding plants.

The string algae is growing on my falls... can't add plants to it.
Broke out the falls foam today, Squish... Rerouted some of the water. Caused another problem, though, by my upper planter. Need to foam that area tomorrow... haven't quite seen what caused that 'leak' yet... but I'll figure it out. Love my new hobby. |

And you dont have to add plants to the falls. Its the same water thats in the pond. So if you have plants in the pond that are sucking up the nutrients, then the falls should clear up.

The string algae cleared with the addition of the bacteria. I replaced the rocks in the stream over the weekend now that the algae problem is cleared up... and now the water appears to be going where I want it to. The final conquest will be the auxilliary falls... the side one... Just need to focus that water a little better... The more I sit there and enjoy it, the more I want to change it. My friend said she is still changing hers after four years.
