What are my koi worth?
Does anyone know how one would go about finding out how much their koi are worth? I have some large koi and I'm not sure what kind or their value.
Thanks. |

They are only worth wut someone will pay you for them. This is usually not even close to what they would be worth if a store was selling them, so its hard to tell. As for identifying them there are plenty of sites on the web that you can get pictures and info that you can compare your fish to, to see what species they might be.

They will be more xpensive if they are some kind of Japanese strain. Also if their markings are as they are supposed to be (clear etc), depending on the different patterns that are registered. Then the price also goes up with the size of the fish.
The internet is probably really the best place to look for prices, see what patterns your fish have, compare their size, etc. (You can also look on ebay, they have some expensive koi there sometimes).

I know i might be a little late replieing but the price of a koi is determines by the place it came from, the breeder and the definition if it's marking. For example, if you have a kohaku and the white in it goes straight to orange or red and there is no fadding into a certain colour, the price is more. If the orange or red gradually fades into white, this is not a high quality koi. Hope that helps!
