what fish can go in?

i want to build an outdoor pond, and i was curious if i could put some cichlids in it during the summer, it is really warm here and i would pull them out during winter, if not cichlids can i go for any other fish besides koi, i really dont want such an average pond?

since you live in visalia, you can probably go to a local pond and catch some blue gill, or other assorted sun fish, they tend to do fine in a pond... we have one set up with like 7 bluegill, one bass, and one crappie...

i remember this livebreader magazine read said that the author of one of the stories had a pond in his back yard that had salin fin mollies in it and they looked amazing swimming around and the males displaying there beautiful fins for the females, yeah i would love to see pics of your pond, and i think i really want some lyretail mollies for my pond, i could put them in a tank during the winter time.

I keep sailfin mollies (Poecilia latipinna) in my pond year-round. Winters don't get particularly cold here in Phoenix though - or last all that long either. I also keep American flagfish, blue-fin killies and a few other odds and ends. They all breed like flies.

pond filter, they have them at like lowes and hd, or you can get a real pond filter that works well, you'll also need a UV sterilizer, because over exposed sun will cause insane algae blooms, get some more odds and ends too, like gravel if you want to plant aquarium plants in it, (i have some anarchis and some hornwort along with some other mixed aquarium plants in my friends pond that i take care of) they grow like crazy, our 1 pack of 5 anarchis has become large enough to trim it into 4 packs of 5. i'd do it.
