June Freshwater POTM!

The Rules

Photos must be uploaded to your photo album and the bbcode link posted in the thread. A brief description of your photo may be included. Albums are found in your profile in the right hand column. If you need assistance uploading to an album, please PM an Aquarium Advice site team member (mod/admin), and they can walk you through it. Once uploaded, you can link directly in the contest thread here using IMG tags.

One photo per member per month allowed, and the photo MUST be taken by you.

I will select the winner of the contest based on the quality of the photograph and how closely it relates to the theme this month . The winner will copy and paste this section to a new thread, where they will decide the theme of next months contest. Submissions will be accepted until the last day of the month. The winner will be announced on the first day next month and will be issued a badge. Anyone holding a badge can post a pic but will be exempt at the final decision.

Note:
please pm seaweed at end of each contest with the winner so a badge can be placed.

This page is for posting your pictures only, not chit chat. Failing to follow the rules is means for disqualification.

This month's theme is PERSONALITY ! We would love to see the creature(s)/living entity with the most personality! Cell phone photos, camera photos, however you can take 'em, we want to see them posted! Now this also means if you can "meme" a plant, by all means include them, too!

Good Luck!

Gosh, it's hard to take a photo of a black fish!

Out of the running but this photo is of a female (I think) angelfish that I have kept for several years now. A mild-mannered young thing that rules over 13 much larger congo tetras and walks (swims!) a fine line with the larger angelfish between socialising and outright bickering. Too small to really bicker, stealth attacks and a fine turn of speed are a well developed pattern. Mind you I have seen her charge a tetra head on to defend ground. I love watching this fish interact.

This photo shows her rising out of the background plants.

I love this picture and I love this fish (hence why its my avatar).

This female firemouth has a motherly attitude about her without ever having spawned yet. She lives in a 40 gallon tank with some other juvenile firemouths that are all smaller than her... and she definitely makes them know of it. She is by far the ruler of my tank.

Personally I think this picture is a little artsy if I do say so myself.

This is a photo of my female gold gourami hanging out around her favorite decoration. While just a juvenile she has already shown that she is going to be a little terror when grown. Most of the time you will find her gracefully swimming through all levels of the tank minding her own business, however I have seen her try to put a rainbowfish into orbit after having her flake stolen at feeding time.

Hmmm now that I think about it, can fish have anger issues?

Peckoltia Vittata L015 Candy Striped Pleco

This is my candy stripe pleco. He currently lives in my heavily planted 55gallon tank, and is VERY photogenic. I have many great shots of him, but this one always stands out to people. His eyes are just awesome looking, as he watches me take this shot. When he isnt posing for me and my camera, he really enjoys fresh cucumber and zucchini.

So, as some may have seen, this is Patriot. I had a pure white betta in my hand and walked by this little scout on the way out of the store. He actually looked at me out of the container he was in and stared at me. (I understand that fish can't blink, but humor me.) I moved a little, he moved with me. I put the other fish back and took him home.

I love his coloring, he reminds me of Independence Day fireworks... thus his name.

He's getting along fairly well with the cherry barbs that I put in the tank with him. We'll see how well everyone gets along. Worst comes to worse, I have 2 other tanks I can put them into.
