How much water to run through a bog?

I was wondering how fast should the water flow through a bog filter? Should it sit so the plants can absorbe more or is okay if it flows through quickly

I like a slow to medium flow rate for my bogs but in the streams for some of my ponds fast water works just fine so kind of personal choice

Ill probably run it slow im going to add a swirl filter from aquaponics just before the bog and i dont want all the solids to get sucked up
