I intend to start a FW water indoor pond. Its capacity is about 30 gallons. I want to have an asian bio-tope, so I could use some suggestions of aquatic and plants-that-have-their-roots-in-the-water-but-stick-out. I will be using a Fluval canister filter and 2 150 watt heaters and will be put in a heated room(on cold days)...but no A/C(it gets so hot in summer). Thanks!!

The idea you have is one that I had last year. With your pond being only 30 gallons, you will have to be careful of any plant taking over.

I bought canna lilly bulbs in May and by July the plant was over 3 feet tall.
I planted it in a 12 inch plastic pot and then submerged the pot. The bulbs sprouted quickly and the growth was almost too fast.

You can get (If you want bushy) Celery, or mint, or chameleon plant.

These are all fast growers.
