Hi all, I'm planning out a tank with a couple of shubunkins in it. (55 gallon) Does anyone have any recommendations of tank mates, esp algea eaters, etc.

Thanks!

Dojo loaches make good tankmates for goldfish. I've also seen bristlenose plecos suggested if you keep the temperature around 74 degrees.

A 55 gallon is too small for shubunkins in the long term, just a heads up.

I've kept gambusia, white clouds and Sailfin Mollys with them. The Gambusia work the best and outdoors keep unwanted Mosquito larva down to zero.

A 55 is too small for full grown Shubunkins. You might try Black Moors or other telescope eye goldfish. Orandas, 2 only would work as well.

Thanks for the replies!

Fwiw, I'm planning on growing them out here, then moving them to a pond when they are bigger! So no worries there.
