We feed ours floating cichlid pellets, veggies and occasional feeders that they manage to catch.

Reptomin makes very good pellets but anything fresh like minnows or veggies are a lot better.

My two Ouachita maps get:
50% Reptomin
40% Hikari Wheatgerm
10% Dried shrimp
I think Zoomed are the best readily available pellets out there.
