My girlfriend and I just picked up a red eared slider. I don't think we got the proper lighting. We got a uvb light rated at 5, and one of those red heat lamps. Do we leave both lights on at the same time, or only the red heat one on at night. What is the proper lighting cycle for this guy.

I leave the heat bulb on at all times above the basking spot. The uvb bulb goes off at night. Here is info on your new pet hope it helps and hope you have a big tank.
